Changes may be coming to your water bill: what to expect

As a part of our overall effort to improve customer service and make the Oldham County Water District as efficient as possible, we're making some changes to our billing process. Just to be clear, we are not changing how much you pay, only the date your payment is due.

Not everyone will be affected by this change. About half of our customers will keep the due date they currently have. The other half will notice that their water bill will now be due at the beginning of the month.

Is my bill changing?
With a few exceptions, almost all of our customers who live north of I-71 are already on the standardized bill due date, and your billing date will not change. Most customers, but not all, who live south of I-71 will be moving to the new billing system. Some customers south of I-71 are already on the new billing date plan.

As illustrated in the map below, the areas in purple will not experience a change. The areas in green will move to a billing due date on the first of each month.

When is the change happening?
The new billing cycle will begin in November. You will still only receive one bill in November, but it will be coming 15 days earlier. This "short" bill will be for 15 to 17 days of usage and should therefore be lower than your usual bill. Then, going forward, your bills will always be sent on or near the 15th of each month, and they will then be due on the 1st of the following month.

As part of our old billing system, your October bill will be due on November 15. This is also the starting date of the new system, when your November bill will be issued to you. You have until the first business day of the following month to pay, which in this case, you have until December 3 to pay your November bill.

Do I have to change my bill's due date?
Yes. Oldham County Water is combining two billing periods into one so everyone's billing and due dates will be the same. This allows us to be more efficient and accurate in our financial records, which ultimately helps us give you even better customer service.

What if I pay my bill automatically online?
If you use the AutoPay with Direct Bank Withdrawal, you do not need to do anything; the change will be made for you. If you pay through an auto-pay system through your own bank or financial institution, be aware you will need to make a one-time change to set up the new payment due date starting with November's bill.

We're here if you have questions!
We value you—our loyal customers—as much as you and your family value having clean water. We understand that any change can be disruptive, so we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we make this adjustment. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact us:
